About TX Registered Agent.org

TX Registered Agent.org is the best and most affordable registered agent in Texas: $99 a year, the same at renewal.

Texas cityscape

One yearly price

Registered agent service in Texas: $99/year. It renews automatically each year at $99 unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account.

State fees are shown separately from our fee. We collect them with your order and pay them to the state at cost when we file.

Outside the plan

  • A virtual mailbox or mail forwarding. Everyday business mail is charged per piece to view, legal letters beyond the 3 a year are charged per piece, junk mail is discarded and packages are refused.
  • Filing your annual report. That is a separate service with its own fee plus the state's fee.
  • State filing fees of any kind.
  • Forming the company, or any amendment or reinstatement filing.

One thing on mail: as your registered agent we take in service of process and official Texas correspondence for you, and our address can go on your public filings so your own never appears. Mail forwarding is not our business, however. Service of process is scanned to you the same day at no charge, three state or tax notices a year get the same free scan, anything else you want scanned is $15 an item, and we bill actual postage if a paper original has to be sent.

What you get

Dependable registered agent service throughout Texas — $99 annually. That fee covers the office address, scanning of legal correspondence, and reminders for state filings.

  • A registered agent of record in Texas, listed on your state filing.
  • We accept service of process and official state mail on your company's behalf.
  • Service of process and Secretary of State mail are scanned to your online account, with an email to you.
  • Up to 3 other official (legal) letters a year are scanned at no extra charge, for example letters from the IRS.
  • Annual report due-date reminders by email.

A registered agent is the person or company designated to receive service of process, state notices, and official correspondence on behalf of your Texas business. Every LLC, corporation, and similar filing entity in Texas has to keep one on record, along with a registered office address inside the state.

Who can serve An individual who is a resident of Texas, or a business entity (domestic or foreign) that is registered to do business in the state.

Who cannot serve Your company itself. The state's official Form 401 instructions put it bluntly: "The filing entity cannot act as its own registered agent." The Secretary of State's office is also off the table as your agent. You need a separate person or company in the role.

Consent is mandatory Under § 5.207, whoever you designate must have consented to the appointment, in writing or electronically. Naming someone without asking is not a valid designation.

How signing up works

Switching from another agent? Order the change of registered agent and our team completes Form 401 and submits it to the Secretary of State on your behalf. Our fee for that filing is $0; the state's $15 fee is collected at checkout and goes to the state. Forming a new company yourself? After enrollment you'll get confirmation plus our name, Texas office address and consent to put on your filing.

Your service begins as soon as the state processes your update. From that point forward, we receive your official documents, scan them same-day, and forward them electronically through our secure portal.

When your annual renewal approaches, we'll send you a reminder. You can renew at the same $99 rate. No automatic billing—you'll know exactly when and what you're paying.

Switching to us from another agent

Change of registered agent to us: $0 our fee + $15 Texas filing fee = $15. The registered agent service itself is $99/year.

  1. Line up the new agent first. Texas accepts an individual who resides in the state or an organization registered to do business in Texas, and your company cannot name itself.
  2. Secure the new agent's consent, written or electronic, as § 5.207 requires. Form 401-A is the state's consent document; our consent comes with your signup.
  3. Complete Form 401 with your entity name, file number, and the incoming agent's name and Texas street address.
  4. Submit the form to the Texas Secretary of State with the $15 fee, either on paper or online through SOSPortal, which replaced SOSDirect on September 29, 2026. A card payment adds $0.25 plus 2.25 percent.
  5. Look up your entity afterward and confirm the new agent appears in the record before you release the old one.

Billing, cancellation and refunds

Registered agent service renews automatically for another year on each renewal date, unless you turn off auto-renewal or cancel in your online account, or give written notice at least 30 days before the renewal date. Renewal reminders go out about 60 days ahead.

You can cancel at any time from your online account or by contacting support. Cancelling does not by itself remove us as registered agent on the state record; a change of registered agent or resignation filing does that.

Anything already filed with the government is not refundable. Registered agent fees are not refundable once we or our partner have been appointed with the state. State fees are not refundable once paid to the state.

Quick answers

Can I be my own registered agent in Texas?

No, Texas law explicitly prohibits the entity from serving as its own registered agent. You'll need to designate either an individual who meets Texas requirements (18+, Texas resident) or a business entity authorized to operate in Texas. Many business owners use professional registered agent services to protect privacy.

How much does it cost to switch my registered agent to you?

$15 today: our fee for the filing is $0 and Texas charges $15 to file the change. Registered agent service is $99/year.

How quickly will I receive my documents?

We scan and forward documents electronically the same day they arrive at our office. You'll receive an alert and can access the scanned document through our online portal immediately. Physical copies can be arranged if needed.

How do I sign up for Texas Registered Agent service?

Visit our checkout page, provide your business information and contact details, and complete payment for the first year of service. We'll send you confirmation and instructions for updating your registered agent information with the Texas Secretary of State.

What are the address requirements for Texas registered agents?

Texas requires registered agents to have a physical Texas address. PO boxes are not allowed. The agent typically needs to be available during regular business hours, five days a week, at this location to receive documents.
